PRUDEmag is a zine reclaiming the term "prude" as a refusal of sex-necessarism.
We promote "prude pride" as a celebration of our autonomy and boundary setting, a resistance to our sex-necessary culture, and a liberatory lens in which "no" is sacred.
Since our first issue in 2019, PRUDEmag has been featured on the CBC series "The Big Sex Talk", in Briarpatch Magazine, in Planned Parenthood Toronto's Teen Health Source, and more. Broken Pencil Magazine called us "the inclusive sex zine of the century", and Issue 2 was nominated for the "Best Political Zine" award.
We publish work by spinsters, asexuals, relationship anarchists, celibates, and many other people challenging sex-necessarism.
We believe strongly in prude-slut solidarity and prude-slut simultaneity. We understand prudeness as rejection of colonialism, capitalism, white supremacy, and cisheteropatriarchy. Solidarity, community care, and play are pillars of the prude movement.
Whether our prudism is related to our sexual orientation, our trauma, our disability, our spirituality, or none of the above, prude identity rejects a one-size-fits-all sexual empowerment.
